About Gregory Gonzales

Gregory Gonzales HeadshotGregory Gonzales graduated from the University of Northern Colorado with a degree in Kinesiology/Dance. Gregory received a dance scholarship during his time at UNC and earned the Best Dancer Award. While at university he discovered his love of choreography in the composition classes offered and took full advantage of every choreographic opportunity that presented itself. He created several works for the Colorado Ballet which include Carmina Burana, Peter Pan (both co-choreographed), Incantation, Broken Web and Last Breath. For the 2003-2004 season he was made a Choreographer in Residence. He was a Choreographer in Residence at Colorado Ballet from 2003-2004 and for Ballet Ariel from 2005 up until the present.

Gonzales has an ability to mine dancers for amazing, eclectic movements that can vary from frantic shaking and seemingly impossible postures on the floor, to full out and wide-open dance.

Gregory Gonzales, a riveting Revivalist, was sharply impressive, tempering bursts of hell and brimstone with measuredly grave humanity. I also felt there was an underlying humor there.
